With the approval of Mrs. Lolita Guthrie and her family, the OBTA Executive Board voted to name the Business Education Scholarship in honor and memory of Dr. Mearl R. Guthrie. Dr. Guthrie was a past president of OBTA and a long-time faculty member and Business Education Chairperson at Bowling Green State University.
Dr. Guthrie touched so many lives in the Business Education field. Many OBTA members were educated, guided, advised, and mentored by him at Bowling Green. If OBTA members did not attend Bowling Green, they were touched by his dedication and commitment to Business Education through reading his journal articles or meeting him at the OBTA Conventions. He always had a bright smile with a warm greeting, and a sticker to place on name tags, for everyone attending the Conventions, before and after his retirement.
We are proud to honor Dr. Guthrie’s memory by offering the Dr. Mearl R. Guthrie Business Education Scholarship to future Business Education educators.
